(17–25 August 2025)

The Environmental and Sustainability Summer School, organized by Bodrum Institute and held between 17–22 August 2025, was successfully completed, offering participants a nature-integrated, practice-oriented, and multidimensional learning experience. Moving beyond merely raising awareness in the field of environment and sustainability, the program created a learning environment in which participants were able to transform their knowledge and skills into concrete projects.

Practice-Oriented and Nature-Based Learning

Throughout the summer school, participants engaged in a comprehensive educational process that integrated theoretical knowledge with practical application. Through Project Cycle Management (PCM) workshops, they developed skills in analyzing environmental problems, generating solutions, and transforming these solutions into structured projects; this process was reinforced through group work and presentations. In addition, field-based training on Good Agricultural Practices and organic production techniques enabled participants to directly observe sustainable production methods on site. Technical sessions, such as training on combating forest fires, further contributed to enhancing awareness and response capacity regarding environmental risks.

A key component of the program was direct interaction with nature. During the camp, participants stayed in tents, gaining experience in communal living. Through morning nature walks, hands-on activities in agricultural fields, and field visits focusing on local production processes, they experienced the concept of sustainability within everyday practices. This holistic approach extended the learning process beyond a purely academic framework, allowing participants to develop a multidimensional perspective on environmental issues.

At the end of the program, participants presented their project ideas, making both individual and collective production processes visible; this contributed to rendering the outcomes of the summer school tangible and measurable. The Environmental and Sustainability Summer School was thus completed as a high-quality model that created a lasting impact on participants’ knowledge, skills, and awareness, while contributing to the development of individuals capable of taking an active role in the field of sustainability.

Get ready to think, create, and transform together for the environment this summer!
