Prof. Haldun Yalçınkaya

Prof. Haldun Yalçınkaya completed his postgraduate studies in International Relations at Istanbul University after his education at Kuleli and Harbiye. After his doctorate, he conducted academic studies at Oxford University, the US Military Academy (West Point), and the University of Florida. He has published national and international books, academic articles, and various publications in the field of International Relations. He has been working as a faculty member at the Department of International Relations at TOBB University of Economics and Technology since 2013.

Prof. Şaban KARDAŞ

Prof. Şaban Kardaş is a faculty member at TOBB ETÜ, Department of Political Science and International Relations. Dr. Kardaş received his master’s degree in international relations and European studies from METU and Bonn University and completed his doctorate at the University of Utah. He has published works on international relations theory, security studies, energy policies, and Turkish domestic and foreign policy. In addition to his duties at the university, he has served on the editorial boards of various academic journals. He has organized training programs for various institutions and has given lectures at the Military Academy, the Police Academy Diplomacy Academy, Sakarya University, and other institutions.

Bedi ÇELİK

Bedi ÇELİK served at various levels of the Turkish Armed Forces between 1993-2013, following his education at Kuleli Military High School and the Military Academy, . He served as a faculty member at the Military Academy between 2005-2009, as a project officer at the General Staff between 2009-2011, as the operations center chief at EUFOR/Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2005, and retired from the Turkish Armed Forces in 2014. He completed his postgraduate education in Financial Management at Yeditepe University in 1998. He has edited three books on leadership and has a book titled “System Dynamics”. Since 2015, he has worked at various levels, especially in European Union (EU) projects, as Project Administrative Coordinator, Project Senior Assistant, and Project Researcher.

Assoc. Prof. Bahadır PEHLİVANTURK

Assoc. Prof. Bahadır Pehlivantürk received his BA and MA degrees from Middle East Technical University (METU) and his PhD from Kyoto University, Japan. He currently serves as a faculty member at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, TOBB University of Economics and Technology, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on Asia-Pacific International Relations, Japanese Foreign Policy, and International Relations Theories. His research interests include Turkish-Japanese Relations, Japanese Security Policies, Japan’s Foreign Aid, and Global Health Diplomacy. He was a Japan Foundation researcher at Kobe University for one year in 2019-20.

Assoc. Prof. Başar Baysal

Basar Baysal is an associate professor of International Relations in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Ankara Science University. He graduated from the Turkish Military Academy in 2007 and worked in various locations, including Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Istanbul, Ankara, Diyarbakır, Hakkari, and Northern Iraq, serving as a platoon leader and company commander until his retirement in 2019. Dr. Baysal holds an MA degree from the International Relations Department at Marmara University and earned his PhD from the International Relations Department at Bilkent University in 2017. His research interests include Critical Security Studies, Peace and Conflict Processes, Environmental Security, Latin American Studies, Securitization Theory, Wartime Economies, and Organized Crime. Previously, Dr. Baysal worked as a TUBITAK 2219 Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Universidad del Rosario in Colombia, where he conducted fieldwork on the implementation of the Colombian peace process in 2020 and 2021. He also conducted a research project on Climate Security Perceptions in Türkiye at the Istanbul Policy Center of Sabancı University in 2023 and 2024. Dr. Baysal is the author of the book titled “Securitization and Desecuritization of FARC in Colombia: A Dual Perspective Analysis,” and his articles have been published in journals such as Peacebuilding, International Relations, and the International Journal.

Assoc. Prof. Cihan Dizdaroğlu

Dr Cihan Dizdaroğlu is associate professor and vice-chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Başkent University. Previously, he worked as a Marie-Curie fellow (2018-2020) at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR) at Coventry University and as a lecturer (2018-2021) in the in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Kadir Has University. He also served as an associate fellow (2021-2024) at the Istanbul Political Research Institute (ISTANPOL), director (2017-2018) of the Center for Turkish Studies at Kadir Has University, and project coordinator (2009-2018) of the International Relations Council of Turkey. He still serves as the managing editor of the journal of Uluslararası Iliskiler (International Relations).

Dr Dizdaroğlu holds a PhD in International Relations from Kadir Has University. His academic interests include critical peace and conflict studies, youth and peacebuilding, critical security studies, the Cyprus problem, Turkish foreign policy – particularly Turkish-EU relations and Turkish-Greek relations.

 

Dr Dizdaroğlu is the author of Turkish-Greek Relations: Foreign Policy in a Securitisation Framework (2023) published by Edinburgh University Press and co-editor of Critical Peace Studies: Concepts, Actors and Processes [Eleştirel Barış Çalışmaları: Kavramlar, Aktörler ve Süreçler] (2024) published by Imge Publishing.

Elif Merve DUMANKAYA

Elif Merve Dumankaya received her BA from the Department of International Relations at TOBB University of Economics and Technology. During her undergraduate education, she worked on defense industry, defense expenditures/military expenditures, and terrorism at organizations such as the Middle East Research Center (ORSAM), the Foundation for Political, Economic, and Social Research (SETA), and STM Defense Technologies and Engineering Inc. ThinkTech. She is currently a student and teaching assistant at the TOBB ETU Security Studies MA Program. Her research interests include terrorism, counterterrorism, and intelligence.

Orçun DEMİR

Orçun Demir completed his undergraduate education at the Department of International Relations at Ege University. During his undergraduate education, he participated in an exchange program at the Department of Comparative Politics at Bergen University (Norway). He completed his master’s degree in the International Relations Program at TOBB University of Economics and Technology and worked as a teaching assistant during this period. Demir, who is currently continuing his doctorate at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, serves as a Research Assistant in the same department. His research interests are international political economy, energy security, renewable energy, environment, and sustainable development.

Fatma SEVER

Fatma Sever is a postgraduate student in Security Studies at TOBB University of Economics and Technology and is also a teaching assistant. She completed her undergraduate education in International Relations at Eskişehir Osmangazi University. During her undergraduate studies, she interned at various places such as the United Nations Population Fund-Women’s Health Consulting Center Project (UNFPA-KSDM) Project and the Migration Administration. She currently focuses on regional security, security governance and regionalization.
