Environment and Sustainability Summer School

The Environment and Sustainability Summer School was successfully held between September 4–9, 2022, at Bodrum Garaova Youth and Agriculture Camp. Hosted by the Bodrum+ Institute, the program aimed not only to provide young participants with theoretical knowledge on environment, climate change, and sustainability, but also to offer hands-on field experience.

Bringing together local initiatives, non-governmental organizations, and university students, the Summer School emphasized the importance of individual contribution in environmental and sustainability efforts. It also sought to encourage young people to adopt the methods and habits necessary for a sustainable lifestyle.

Throughout the five-day program, participants received practical training in various fields such as sustainable agriculture practices, forest fire management, marine ecosystem protection, and the role of civil society in addressing environmental challenges. In the camp’s natural setting, they also had the opportunity to enhance their social and personal skills.

This year’s program was attended by students from TOBB University of Economics and Technology and TED University. By the end of the program, participants developed greater environmental awareness and a sense of living in harmony with nature. They also contributed to good agricultural practices and learned about the roles and responsibilities of civil society organizations in tackling environmental issues, putting their knowledge into action.
