Green Deal, Sustainable Trade, and Turkey’s Integration Summer School
Organized in collaboration between Bodrum+ Institute and Istanbul Medipol University, the “Green Deal, Sustainable Trade, and Turkey’s Integration Summer School” took place between 3–8 September 2023 in the unique atmosphere of Bodrum. This special event, which brought participants closer to nature, was held in the inspiring environment of Garaova Agri Park, one of the most beautiful natural venues in the Aegean region.
Program Objectives and Outcomes
The Summer School aimed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience on the European Union’s new roadmap—the European Green Deal—and the integration of sustainable trade policies in Turkey. Throughout the program, students developed an understanding of the relationship between climate change and trade, while deepening their academic and professional expertise in the field.
Participation and Accreditation
Open to university students from all disciplines, professionals, and anyone interested in the topic, the program awarded participants with a Certificate of Participation upon successful completion. Additionally, students who coordinated with their respective universities were eligible to transfer 5 ECTS credits, subject to approval by their home institutions.
Camp Experience
The Summer School began with an orientation session on Sunday afternoon. Participants enjoyed a unique camping experience with meals provided by Bodrum Municipality and tent accommodation within the lush natural setting of Garaova Agri Park. This immersive experience combined academic learning with social and outdoor activities, creating an unforgettable week for everyone involved.
A Unique Educational Experience
Students from across Turkey attended the Jean Monnet Summer School, gaining both professional and personal growth opportunities while surrounded by the stunning nature of Bodrum. More than just a summer school, the program offered a transformative journey—one that fostered lasting friendships, intellectual inspiration, and new perspectives.
This Summer School marked an important step toward shaping the future of the Green Deal within the inspiring and natural atmosphere of Bodrum. Participants left the program with enhanced knowledge, practical insights, and a renewed commitment to building a more sustainable world.
